United Methodist Communications is working to provide timely and relevant information about how The United
Methodist Church is responding to the tragic earthquake in Haiti and how United Methodists can
support these efforts. United Methodists have had a long-standing relationship with Haiti through the
Methodist Church of Haiti.
The United Methodist News Service posted an initial story soon after the tragedy and will have ongoing
coverage about United Methodist mission teams that are in Haiti, response efforts by the United
Methodist Committee on Relief, and what local churches are doing to provide aid. Stay tuned to for more
information.
Support for relief efforts can be made to Haiti Emergency, UMCOR Advance #418325 or through the national
Methodist website www.umc.org.

Dear sisters and brothers,
You have already heard a little about the “Imagine No Malaria” initiative to follow up the
“Nothing But Nets” campaign, but today you’re going to hear a little more about it from our own
District Superintendent, the Reverend Bob Allen. He has personal experience with malaria, and he’d like to
share it with you in the following video:
"Imagine No Malaria"
Our own Music Director, Verne Wortman, also has had experience with malaria, as he was once afflicted with it
while doing mission work in Nigeria, and you will soon be hearing from him, or reading of his experience, as
we get further into the “Imagine No Malaria” effort. In the meantime, please be in prayer about how
God is going to use each of us to be a part of wiping out the killer disease of malaria in Sierra Leone…
in all of Africa… in all of the world.
May God bless you, your family, and your ministry. May God bless our common ministry together in our
community and as part of the world body of Christ.
In Christ’s love and service,
Jason A. Teague, Pastor
